Albarino comes from the Galicia region of north west Spain and we were the first to plant it here in the Hunter Valley in 2014. Galicia is classified as a warm maritime climate and it produces textural wines with low alcohol, high fruit and high acid, just like the Hunter Valley. Our Albarino is medium bodied with great texture and acid and a spicy lime character locked into its minerality.
Being the first Albarino from the Hunter it is hard to know how long this wine may cellar but its balance and structure suggests it will cellar well for many years.
The second release of this albarino suits the Hunter Valley for the same reasons that regional hero semillon also does: quick ripening, low sugars and high acidity. This wine delivers lime tart and baked lemon citrus, white floral characters and a nutty afternote. Fleshy and textural with a mineral line parallel to bracing acidity. Continue »
