Cooking Schools

Let 2018 be your year to get your hands dirty in the kitchen.

Our Margan Chef Series will equip you with the basic skills in the kitchen to make your dinner parties the envy of all of your family and friends.

Over the course of the year, we will cover all of the kitchen basics including knife skills, mother sauces and stocks, brining and smoking, deboning and descaling, handling and preparation of proteins and working with pastry.

Each class starts in the famed Margan Kitchen Garden, learning about growing vegetables and fruits and then harvesting the produce that you will use to cook with. We then don aprons and progress to the kitchen to get to the fun stuff. Ever wanted to know how to debone a chicken? Fillet a fish? Make your own cheese? Yes, please!

Chef will demonstrate and teach different culinary skills, all the while using our gorgeous, estate grown seasonal produce.

The piece de resistance? Lunch in our highly awarded Margan Restaurant, with the Brokenback Range as your backdrop.

Make your weekend away in the Hunter Valley one to remember! Join us for all seven, or just one or two. Either way, your future dinner guests will love you for it!

Theme: With your knife at the ready, chef will guide you through the process of filleting, descaling and deboning a fish. You will learn the process of curing before watching the intricate detail behind plating a dish and then it’s yours to enjoy!

Theme: See a master at work whilst our chef demonstrates the art of whole animal butchery of our own Suffolk Lamb that are reared on the Estate. Enforcing the nose to tail philosophy, you will get busy butchering and preparing different cuts of meat and receive the inside tips for perfecting the cooking processes
