  • 5 star ratingAbsolutely Delicious 5 Courses and Wines - Absolutely Delicious
We organised a 5 course dinner with matching wines, and they definitely didn’t disappoint!
From the beginning of the night when we walked in and was greeted by the friendly team (Brittany and Maddie) we had the best experience ever!
Our experience started with the Cocktails with Brittany and She is a Customer Service Managers Dream! Couldn’t have asked a more fabulous way to spend our birthdays celebrating!
The Head Chef briefed the team on my allergic reactions (which I overheard) and was very pleased about their policies of washing hands between every service.
Then our between waitress Maddie made the night even more special by making us laugh and being a delight.
The food was fabulous, and it was made even better with the paired wines.
The food was amazing, the service was even better! And the atmosphere was beautiful. The fireplace was nice and warm and it was lovely being able to have a drink by the fireplace before and after dinner.
Thank you to the team for making us feel so special.
We will be back for Sure!

5 star ratingFantastic Lunch! When you first arrive at Margan Winery, there is an immediate friendly, warm atmosphere that welcomes you. When seated at your table the experience begins and you think “there is no other place I would rather be”. The friendliness of the staff and the amazing food which is created by Chef Joey is sheer bliss and you know the next couple of hours tasting the delicious food with accompanying wines was well worth wait.

5 star ratingSuperb lunch experience at the far end of the Hunter Valley Five out of five for food, service and experience .
I booked a package containing a winery tour, wine tasting and degustation menu.
    Could not be happier.
The tour of vineyards, their organic kitchen gardens and wine-making facilities was fun and informative without being pompous pompous (which too often is the case with winery tours). The tour was just long enough (with tasting of 3 wines, straight from the barrels) and ended with a generous tasting of further 4 or 5 wines.
This was followed by a 5-course degustation lunch which was outstanding. Everything you get to eat or drink comes from their own farm or the immediate vicinity.
Service by Victoria was superb. Friendly, professional and (wine wise) informative. Again, very generous pours at the (optional extra) wine matching.
Definately one of the best meals and hospitality experiences of late.
I will be back and bring appreciative friends.
Good value for money and no pushing to but from their cellar door!

5 star rating''Absolutely Amazing Experience - Best Food and Wine in the Hunter Valley" This is a gem. From the moment we putted up we knew we were in for a memorable experience. If you're looking for the 'wow' factor, we highly recommend a wine tasting followed by the 5 course degustation lunch. A simply beautiful location, cosy and inviting cellar door, great people and great wine. The wonderful Jess who looked after us, was friendly and knowledgeable. The wines are diverse in flavour, exciting blends and many varieties. So much so, we bought 34 bottles!
The restaurant service was outstanding and the food was exceptional. Fresh produce picked from the garden. Each course was innovative, perfectly presented and absolutely mouth watering. Can't wait to go back!

4 star ratingLadies 50th birthday Bash We had a fantastic evening with all us ladies and a great food experience. We didn't get to taste the wines (not sure why as we opted for a cocktail to start and nothing was offered after). We had one canapé on arrival and where given a choice of cocktail list or drink. We booked the private room and paid $150 each. This was for a 5 course meal with pairing wines (which we didnt recieve). We each had 1 x cocktails and water through the night. Some ladies had coffee or tea at the end.
All in all we were all together and we enjoyed the night but drove home asking ourselves were we suppose to have had wine with our meals and cocktails with our canapé!!

  • 5 star ratingBeen there before? Try this next time We had a wonderful 5 course degustation lunch after the tour and wine tasting. A wonderful escape from smoky Sydney set against the backdrop of the mountain range. So don't forget to look up.

5 star ratingArt of the Aperitivio. Wow what a wonderful experience. Got a email about the Art of the Aperitivio, and decided to try the restaurant with a tasting prior.

The Aperitivio demonstration was amazing with Craig, in front of the fire, and prior to dinner we had a walk in the garden with Zara, who gave us a brief tour of the veggie patch.

Then we had our scrumptious dinner, again served by Craig, who made it a wonderful experience. Would definitely go back again.

4 star ratingLast minute dinner My husband and I had a last minute dinner last Saturday night at Margan’s. This was our second dining experience at Margan’s (the first being 5+ years ago). The ambience was good and the dining room was bustling. The garden to plate $110 degustation was picture on a plate, delicious, but both of us found the portions to be slightly too little. We left feeling a touch hungry (rather than pleasantly full) and we are not big eaters. Overall it was a nice experience but wouldn’t rave.

5 star ratingDifferent experience second time round Two years ago we visited Margan with a group of friends and didn't have the best time. However, I thought I'd give it another chance because I remembered the wines were good. And I'm glad I did!
This time I went alone and did a solo tasting. The staff were kind enough to squeeze me in, in between reservations and the server was knowledgeable and insightful with his explanations. The wine, as remembered, was superb and I would purchase the whole range if I could.
Thanks Margan for giving me a lovely time and I look forward to being back!

  • 5 star rating"50th Birthday celebration" Celebrated my husband's 50th birthday with family - the food, service and atmosphere was exceptional. From the time we booked to even an email after our visit. The farm to plate and local food experience is what we were looking for particularly supporting a local sustainable business. Our meander through the garden and hearing the story of each meal as it was presented was so heart-warming, we were not just feed for our bellies but for our soul.

5 star ratingWonderful This restaurant room is sensational. Its such a lovely setting. We had the degustation dinner with matching wines. Servings were not massive so we were extremely satisfied at the end of the meal. Whilst there was a minor error with a dietary request - the manager handled it superbly. Highly recommend this place for dinner.

5 star ratingOutstanding meal Celebrated our birthdays here on a full Friday night 12/3. The degustation menu was sensational and hard to pick the best course. Great and unique flavours. Matched wines a great idea but needed a driver for that, so had a glass of their lovely Fordwich Hill shiraz and bought two bottles to take home at the end of the night. Service was also excellent, efficient and attentive staff. Telling everyone Margan is a 'must do' in the Hunter. Will be back.
