Booking wine tastings and dining
Do I need to book a tasting or dining experience?
To ensure you are not disappointed, it is advisable especially in the Restaurant, on weekends or if you are in a group.
For last minute reservations, contact us by telephone and we will see what we can do.
Do you charge for wine tastings?
We offer a structured flight of your choice of six of our Limited Release wines for a nominal charge of $10. All served in Riedel stemware and by our knowledgeable team who are happy to answer all your questions. The tasting fee is non-redeemable. If you are a Margan Club Member this is complementary.
You seem to offer only a five-course degustation menu. Is that too much food?
We offer our five-course tasting menu as it showcases the best of our estate grown and made produce. Most guests feel it is the perfect amount of food and we serve this across a two-hour period which is nicely paced. Choose our classic menu or vegetarian and vegan options. For lighter fare, enjoy graze platters in our cellar door.
Do you cater for dietary meals?
Absolutely. Please give us as much notice and detail around your requirements as possible.
Do you serve food in the cellar door?
We do! We offer a selection of grazing platters featuring cheese, charcuterie, garden produce, baked bread and other goodies from our property and local farm gate producers.
Will you love our children & pets too?
We will! If they are well supervised so as not to disturb the peaceful experience or safety of our other food and wine lovers. We also need to plan for these extra fun mini guests so please let us know so we can allocate space and have highchairs (children) and water bowls (dogs) at hand!
Our Mini Foodies menu is perfect for kids between the ages of four to eleven. They’ll join you on your dining experience and enjoy hand-rolled gnocchi, dessert and a drink.
Do you offer tours and hands-on experiences?

Is your wine vegan friendly?
From Vintage 2021 onwards, all our wines are Vegan friendly which means we don’t use any animal products to fine or filter our wines.
All our reds are vegan friendly.
Does your wine contain Sulphur?
Sulphur compounds play an antioxidant role protecting fruit, juice and wine from oxidation and we use small amounts in most of our wines.
Environmental Stewardship
You are Sustainably Farmed. What does that mean?
Sustainable Farming means farming in a way that the land is looked after and productive for future generations to also farm the land. This has always been important to us and we were the first in the Hunter to be fully certified and are regarded as leaders in this area.
Are you certified?
We follow a detailed Environmental Management Plan (EMP) which is managed and audited with Freshcare and fully accredited with Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.
Our certification benchmarks to the ISO14000 series (International Standards) for best practice.
Our EMP reduces our impact across all business operations in the four basic pillars of sustainability: reduction of greenhouse gases; energy efficiency; water management and reduction of waste.
Are you Carbon Neutral?
Almost! Our EMP has dramatically reduced our production impacts but we are not carbon neutral yet. We could achieve this immediately if we purchased carbon credits but we believe that our impacts should be negated as close to the site of production as possible, so we don’t want to take the short cut and buy our accreditation. We have just planted a tree lot of 450 natives as part of our riverbank regeneration so are working our way towards carbon neutral the long, slow but sustainable way. Watch this space!
Does this mean you are certified Organic?
No, but our Ceres Hill property is ‘in conversion’ to organic management. This will take another two years for full certification but means we currently follow full organic practices.
