Hunter Culinary Association
Hunter Culinary Association is very pleased to congratulate all apprentices and front of house professionals who competed for last night’s scholarships.
The Brett Graham scholarship was very closely contested with an incredibly high standard of dishes being served to guests. Unfortunately, there can only be one winner of this $10,000 prize on the night, so a big congratulations to David Gleadhill from Muse Restaurant. Close runners up were Matthew Mirosevich from Quay Restaurant and Ryan Jones from Bistro Molines.
Also hotly contested were our Front of House Scholarships. The winner of this year’s First Creek Front of House Scholarship of $5,000 was Patrick Hester from Yellow Billy Restaurant. The runner up winning a WSET course with Get Wine Smart was Alexandra Clarke with third place going to Anthony Miller from Restaurant Mason.
The Rising Star Scholarship winner was Hannah McDowell from Margan Restaurant. This award is for a Diploma in Hospitality Management with TAFE NSW.
The high standard of all competitors is great news for the future of the Hunter Region’s culinary industry.
A big thank you to TAFE NSW for their partnership in these initiatives and all their hard work hosting the evening. Also thanks to the judges Tracey Amos from TAFE NSW, Thomas Boyd from Margan Restaurant, Nik Hill from The Old Fitzroy Woolloomooloo and Judith Whitfield from The Newcastle Herald.
