2018 White Label Ceres Hill Semillon
2018 Ceres Hill White Label Semillon
Description The first vineyards that Lisa and I planted were Semillon and Chardonnay on the south eastern facing slope under our house above the winery on a grey alluvial clay, Ceres Hill Vineyard. We found last year that at almost 30 years of age these vines are starting to produce some really high quality distinctive fruit. From the 2018 vintage we decided to keep this fruit separate and release it in limited quantities as a single vineyard Semillon under our prestigious white label.
Region Broke Fordwich, Hunter Valley

Tasting Notes This Semillon is distinctly more aromatic than the vineyard we usually choose for our traditional white label Semillon off our Fordwich Hill site. Aromatics of lemon balm, river stone and lime sherbet followed by a light but crisp palate with flavours of freshly zested lemons and white grapefruit finishing with a tingling acidity.
Colour Pale straw
Nose Lemon Myrtle, chamomile flower, sherbet
Palate White grapefruit, mineral, lemon zest.

Winemakers Notes Low yielding, high quality, clean fruit at full ripeness was a hallmark of the excellent 2018 vintage. The fruit for this wine was handpicked picked early, to maintain high natural acidity. The juice was fermented on full solids using indigenous yeasts which offered a uniquely different style of Semillon contributing more generous aromatics than what is traditionally expected from Hunter Valley Semillon.
