A bottle of the 2019 Huesgen & Margan Trabener Wurtzgarten RieslingHuesgen and Margan Trabener Wurtzgarten Riesling 2019

From the pen of Andrew Margan about this wine: “Back in the vintage of 1981 when I was working at Tyrrell’s here in the Hunter Valley I had the pleasure of working beside a young German who had come to Australia for the harvest businesses in the late nineties. In 2018 I visited Germany with my family, to travel their wine regions, and once again caught up with Ado and his wonderful family. From that meeting we decided that we needed to make some wine together!”

Ipso, we have a Mosel riesling with Margan in tow.

Bony and racy riesling of strictness and piercing freshness. Very long, very clean, citrus and green apple, flinty characters, struck match and the hiss of near fizzy acidity ever-present. Reminds me a bit of leaner GG wines. It’s very good, it’s understated and oh so pent up. Zing.
