A striking wine from an excellent vintage. The typical drive and fruit strength we have come to expect from this now 50yr old site is on full display. The deep volcanic clay pan of the Fordwich Sill generates a truly unique fruit profile in Semillon and as such, we have always kept it separate.

PROFILE

Lemongrass and lime peel dominate the aromatics, the palate is light and full of fresh citrus.

VINTAGE

A mild summer allowed for excellent acid retention and a long ripening period resulting in elegant fruit character and seamless acid balance in white wines coming from 2023.

FERMENTATION & ÉLEVAGE

The fruit was handpicked early to maintain high natural acidity with a low alcohol. Once in the winery it was made using classical Hunter Valley Semillon techniques where the juice was highly clarified and fermented at cool temperatures using neutral cultured yeast to preserve delicate fruit flavours and aromas. It is bottled early to lock away freshness.

Perfectly proportioned with sublime purity, airy citrus zest and quince aromas. The palate offers lovely softness and weight, with nuances of starfruit and a fresh squeeze of ripe lime. Fruit from the sustainably farmed vineyard, grown on grey clay soil, produces finely structured wines with bright acidity. A simply fabulous drop - detailed, fresh and delicious!
