2024 Margan Rose & Bramble Rosé MAGNUM

The 2024 vintage of our Rose & Bramble was another step in the savoury, textural direction. Pinot Grigio and Albarino were harvested together and fermented on their skins to provide spice and structure. Our Ceres Hill Merlot was pressed off its skins straight away and fermented as clean juice, encouraging bright, clean fruit expression without the addition of colour or tannin.

PROFILE

The volcanic soils of the Fordwich Sill, where these estate vineyards are grown, provides an elegant core of fruit, framed by the skin-contacted Pinot Grigio’s gentle tannins. Stone fruit and brambly spice on the nose; textured palate, with amaro like flavours, finishing grippy and dry.

WINEMAKING

The 2024 vintage of our Rose & Bramble was another step in the savoury, textural direction. A bright, savoury and textural blend of Ceres Hill Merlot and Timbervines Shiraz, fermented off skins, with Pinot Grigio from the Saxonvale vineyard fermented on its skins.

VINTAGE

The 2024 harvest was one of our best on record, albeit a challenging growing season with cool, wet weather persisting throughout spring and early summer.
The soil moisture ensured we had strong canopy growth that ultimately held us in great shape for getting the fruit ripe but also challenged us viticulturally to keep it disease free and healthy. Ultimately the weather dried out though remaining mild in temperature. This allowed for extended ripening with preservation of acidity, creating excellent conditions for the white varieties. February brought with it a spike in temperatures and allowed our reds to push into full ripeness, whilst being shaded by the strong canopy set in the wet growing season. All the wines from this vintage are structured, powerful, and poised with great acidity making them ideal for immediate consumption though will cellar with the best vintages.
