In 1996, Andrew and Lisa Margan established Margan on a property in Broke Fordwich with a simple vision: to grow grapes, make wine and share the best of the Hunter Valley with those who visited.
What began as a vineyard and winery has grown into a working farm, restaurant and tourism destination, but the philosophy remains much the same today. Everything starts in the vineyard.
Over the past three decades we've planted, farmed and learned from this unique site, gradually building a collection of wines that reflect the character of Broke Fordwich. Along the way, varieties such as Albariño and Barbera have become an important part of the story, alongside the Hunter Valley classics of Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz.
Today, every wine is grown and made on the estate, with a focus on sustainability and farming for future generations. Our vineyards are certified under Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, while our kitchen gardens, orchards, olive groves and livestock all play a role in creating a diverse and thriving farm.

Why Wine Lovers Choose to Join the Margan Wine Club
For 30 Years We've Been Growing Wine in Broke Fordwich
In recent years, our eldest son Ollie has joined the business full time, working alongside Andrew and Lisa as the next generation of Margan. Together, they continue to evolve the wines, vineyard and visitor experiences while remaining committed to the values the business was built on.
The Ceres Hill collection has become a reflection of that journey. Produced in small quantities from our estate vineyard, these wines represent some of the most distinctive expressions of the site and the culmination of 30 years of winegrowing, winemaking and farming here in Broke Fordwich.
Our Wine Club was created as a way for people to stay connected to that story. Whether you're visiting us regularly or enjoying a bottle from the other side of the country, membership provides access to the wines, experiences and moments that continue to shape Margan today.
