Huon Hooke Reviews
2024 Ceres Hill Semillon 91pts
"Pale, water-white, colourless appearance of a very young wine. The aroma is likewise very reserved, with suggestion of dry grass, straw, dried woody herbs. The palate opens with a burst of lemony acidity which dominates the wine at this tender age. It's bracingly dry and crisp and really needs food. Freshly shucked oysters would work perfectly with it. A purist's wine that will come into its own with some cellar time."
2023 Fordwich Hill Shiraz 93pts
"Deep-ish bright purple colour with spicy star-anise and red fruits in the discreet bouquet. A herbal touch as well. The wine is medium bodied and elegantly crafted with nicely tensioned, fine and drying tannins. The palate adds sweet red berry flavours in the core, surrounded by drying but harmonious tannins that cleanse and refresh the finish. A smart wine with a charming heart of sweet ripe berry flavour, to drink young or cellar for many years. "
2023 Timbervines Shiraz 97pts
"Very deep, super-youthful, dense purple colour, with a brooding nose of dark red and black fruits, edged with clean leather, tar and ironstone nuances. The wine is full bodied and punchy, high-impact and high-energy, with plush and concentrated flavour that is quite profound and long-lasting. The tannins are mouth-coating and supple, contributing to an outstanding young shiraz that will have a huge future. So impressive."
2019 Timbervines Shiraz 92pts
"Deep ruby with good tints of purple remaining in the meniscus. There are bitumen, peppercorn and subtle eucalyptus touches to the bouquet which is starting to mellow but is still youthful. The tannins are firm-edged and there is still tension throughout the palate. A solid shiraz that has years left in it."
